Frequently Asked Questions

What standards exist for coupling nuts?

Coupling nuts are manufactured to the same standards as regular hex nuts. Chemical and mechanical properties are covered by ASTM A563 and A194, while SAE coupling nuts are covered by the J995 specification. The grade of coupling nut used should be compatible with the grades of fasteners they are coupling. Dimensional standards are covered by ASME B18.2.2.

How are coupling nuts tapped?

This is a placeholder tab content. It is important to have the necessary information in the block, but at this stage, it is just a placeholder to help you visualise how the content is displayed. Feel free to edit this with your actual content.

Are coupling nuts threaded the same on each side?

Under normal circumstances, a coupling nut will accept the same diameter, have the same thread pitch, and possess right hand threads on each side. However, special coupling nuts can be made to be used with the male threaded components that possess different thread pitches, finishes, and thread directions.
